I  effin' loved this project - photographing jewelry. My sister creates custom jewelry, and hired me to shoot the photos for her website to advertise her hand-crafted pieces. So, not only did I  get to spend some quality time with my big sis, but I got to do what I love, play, create, and photograph.

Former football athlete

Met and photographed former professional Canadian football offensive lineman, Ray Watrin, who assisted in five Grey Cup wins,  and received the Dandurand award for most offensive lineman in the EFC for the Montreal Alouettes in 1979. How cool to meet and photograph former athletes!

 

Hip-Hop duo 'Natural Ensemble'

Froze my ass off today; however, absolutely worth it! Not only did I get to meet, but I also had the pleasure of photographing Hip-Hop duo, 'Natural Ensemble', with vocalist Josh Giesbrecht, and DJ producer, Brendon Caron; two very talented young artists. You guys are awesome.

Live Theatre - I'll be back before midnight

A wife tries to recover from a nervous breakdown by moving to the country with her husband; however, after their landlord tells them stories of a murder and hauntings of a reoccurring blood stained floor, the wife begins to encounter paranormal activity…

I met a wonderful Okotoks photographer, Jackie Hutchinson, and photographed her, while she was photographing portraits of a family.

I loved her enthusiastic techniques to promote happy, smiling, laughing children, time to borrow my brothers' batman action figurines, and I'm good to go shoot some kids! Photo lingo sounds so awful…

Fitness

We all at some point think, " I should get into shape," followed with, " I'm really gonna do it, this is the year for me!", and that thought is usually quickly vanished with a bag of Doritos, and a tgif t.v. night. So! since we're all awesome at putting the 'pro' in procrastination, let's bask in the glory of the people who do look good in a bathing suit on the beach. Photos shot at 'Natural High Fitness' and 'Motion Fitness' in Okotoks, Alberta.

Tall, dark, and handsome

He's tall, he's classy, and he entertains children; sound too good to be true? Unfortunately yes, because this fellas made out of 2,200 lbs. of straw, and stands 13 feet tall. Okotoks hosts it's 4th annual scarecrow building competition. Check this fella out at Jojo's Cafe at Kayben Farms.

 

Photography and beer!

Okay, who doesn't envy my job today! I had a sneak peek behind the scenes at the Village Brewery in Calgary, Alberta, where I met co-founder, Tim Duffin, and some of the brewery crew.  My taste buds were quenched all afternoon; Blonde - Natural golden ale, Blacksmith - India Black Ale, and Wit - White wheat ale. Hey, It's 5' o clock somewhere!

For those who enjoy the fine cuisine of sushi and appreciate a chefs artistic hand, then feast your eyes on a couple of extravagantly plated dishes from Yokuzuna; sushi bar & grill. Located in Okotoks, Alberta.

Fashion Boutique

Calgary's short season of summer may be coming to an end; however, don't fret! Because small town fashion boutiques, 'Erin's in the Country' located in Black Diamond, and 'Ginger Laurier' located in Okotoks, have unique designer products to quench your inner designer diva for the fall season.

Honouring Rod Lazenby

Regimental memorial service for community Peace officer Rod Lazenby in High River, Alberta. More than 500 law enforcement officers attended the ceremony.

Vegan in the Raw

Not only did I have the pleasure of meeting some wonderful people today from a photo shoot, but I also had the opportunity to experience my first raw vegan meal. Gado-Gado, an indonesian salad, that was prepared with rice, tomatoes, spinach, veganism raw ingredients, and topped with a peanut sauce. 

After this delicious treat, dessert followed, not only one, but three! First on the dessert plate was Raw vegan chocolate cake with avocado glaze icing, topped with raspberries, secondly was raw vegan carrot cake with walnut frosting and orange sliver toppings, thirdly, a raw vegan chocolate treat, made with maca, and sweetened with lucuma, a subtropical fruit. All these delightful dishes were from 'The Home Ground Coffee & Roasting House' in Okotoks, Alberta, I recommend a visit.

Chef Aaron Bruce

Recent Culinary Arts SAIT graduate, Aaron Bruce, created one of his own speciality dishes at Jojo's cafe, located in Kayben Farms, Okotoks, Alberta. I had the pleasure of photographing Bruce plate  behind the scenes, a citrus prawn salad with a carrot puree. Doesn't that look tasty!
